Organized Jury Duty this Week
I was amazed at the organization and order necessary in a court of law. Serving on a jury was one of my life goals. I feel it is a privilege to serve and contribute to my community. I was called for Jury duty this week and was chosen as one of eight jurors from a possible thirty. I listened and learned for 2 days.
_ __ _ __ _ __ _ __ _ __ _
We, the jurors, spent quite a bit of time in the deliberation room BEFORE our deliberation began. Both attorneys were young and fairly inexperienced. The judge would excuse us often to talk with them. As a woman that makes friends with the person in front of me AND behind me in the grocery store line, I enjoyed talking with each juror and learning about their current employment, where they lived, their life goals, etc. One of the jurors commented that if we ever see each other on the street, we will feel like old friends.
I am grateful for the experience jury duty allowed me. I would be happy to serve again sometime. I felt proud to offer a listening ear, a willing mind, and a heart felt verdict. We found the defendant guilty of intent to buy for resell meth amphedamine in a drug free area. We learned later that he was a frequent visitor in court. That information would have made our deliberation easier, had we known, but because logic is sensible and easily to organize, we came to a unanimous decision after a 2 hour deliberation. Judge D., court bailiff, and fellow jurors … Thanks for the Memories!

Surving as a juror is a great way to exercise the rights alloted us by our founding fathers. Very effective article.
