Remember when organizing kids rooms, that children learn way more from what they see you do than from what you tell them. To train your children on room upkeep, model the behavior you want from your children!

4 Keys to Sort Through Sentimental Clutter

One of my recent clients, Melissa in Springville, is a sentimentalist. She was attached to her sentimental clutter. She was a terrific mother of 4 and loved every outfit her children had worn through the years.  She also had many toys that were no longer used but had been kept for sentimental reasons. After I shared and reinforced the tips below, she has been able to understand that living in an orderly home brought much greater joy to her and her family than did the “stuff” they had retained from the past. Can Clutter Be Organized? Organized Clutter?

These two words have very opposite meanings. At dictionary.com we get the definition of both words:
n. clut·ter
1. A confused or disordered state or collection; a jumble.
v. or·gan·ized
2. To put together into an orderly, functional, structured whole.
a. To arrange in a coherent form; to systematize.

At the conclusion of a seminar I taught recently in Mapleton, Utah many people come forward to visit with me and some used this term, organized clutter, to describe their living conditions. I believe there is no such thing. Either there is (1) order OR there is (2) clutter.

For garden enthusiasts, garden tool storage is very exciting. Whether an enthusiast or not, keeping your garden tool storage neat and organized allows you to more easily get the curb appeal you want.  Your yard and garden areas are a great asset to the overall look of your home. Even apartment dwellers can grow a flower garden or vegetable garden by planting a window box or patio box.
