garden tool storage wall unit For garden enthusiasts, garden tool storage is very exciting. Whether an enthusiast or not, keeping your garden tool storage neat and organized allows you to more easily get the curb appeal you want.  Your yard and garden areas are a great asset to the overall look of your home. Even apartment dwellers can grow a flower garden or vegetable garden by planting a window box or patio box.

As an organizing expert, I was recently invited back by KSL TV to help their viewers understand how to organize their garden tools by introducing my garden tool storage formula and favorite garden tool storage containers. I used my 4M organizing formula to move viewers through the process of organizing their garden tool storage spaces and products. A brief synopsis of that formula is listed here:

_ __ _ __ _ __ _ __ _ __ _

Minimize by deleting your broken tools and those you no longer need or use.

Measure (take stock of) what tools you have & decide on an area to store your gardening tools.

Maximize the storage space by defining tool categories, then contain tools in garden tool storage products.

Maintain your garden tool storage space by labeling and retaining.

I promised the KSL TV viewers a few lists and links.  Click on the green links below to find the garden tool storage information you want:

  2. Natalie O Says:

Thank you for showing us those organization tips. Of my gardening things, I think the thing I use most is my gloves. I don’t know if that’s considered more of a tool or an accessory, but I’m excited to try the paint bucket idea. I think I’ll keep my gloves inside. Right now the hyacinth blooms are my favorite.

  3. Melinda (Reynolds) Jacobsen Says:

Ok, this is probably a little lame, but I LOVE Kohlrabi! Maybe I’m just excited, because it’s the one veggie that grows like crazy for me! 🙂 I also get a kick out of it when my kids are telling other kids about them, and they’re met with blank stares. Maybe we’re the only ones in Utah that eat them?? Whatever the case may be, we LOVE ’em!

  4. Angie A Says:

I like my Fiskars hand clippers. I tend to tear or break (damage) plants, and when I use the clippers, it turns our much better. As for my favorite garden plant or flower, I am a huge fan of iceplant (it’s a groundcover) – in all varieties. It spreads like cracy and it is so vibrant when it blooms. Thank you for all the wonderful tips.

  5. Nancy F Says:

Once again, you have helped us with simple, yet powerful, organizing steps – thank you! Now I’m eager for Spring gardening rather than dreading it! I love my hand spade. It’s great for weeding, planting, and tilling…one versatile little tool.

  6. Denee Says:

These are great ideas – now if I can only find where I left my spade last year . . .

  7. Peggy Says:

I like my “lady” size shovel– its just a little smaller and its easy to handle.

  8. Jill Says:

Thanks for all the tips – your previous organizing ideas have been helping. I’m excited to get my yard/ garage under control. I love my large leaf rake and tulips.

Loved your tips Vicki on garden tool storage, especially the paint bucket idea. It seems I am always looking for a place to sit while working in my yard, and an extra bonus of having all your tools close. Thanks for all the good ideas. My favorite tool has to be my leather rose gloves. Saves my hands from the thorns, and so of couse, my favorite plants are rose bushes. Blooms all summer long and into the fall.

  10. Vicki Winterton Says:

What a great tip. Rose gloves. Thanks for sharing with my website visitors Sharlyn!

  11. Linda Says:

Thanks for all your wonderful tips, Vicki. My favorite garden tool is my shuffle hoe for removing weeds quickly w/o having to get down on my hands and knees. I also have to agree that I must have some good garden gloves, and I go through them fast!!

My favorite flowers are roses, daisies and begonias. In climates where they grow well, I like rhododendrons and azaleas.

My favorite garden tool is gardeninng gloves, they keep the spiders off my fingers. Yuck! My favorite flowers are gerber daisies.

  16. Sherrie Cope Says:

I love to garden, and I love many of my tools. But one of the tools I really like is the garden rake. I love it because it cleans up everything. I can rake the leaves off the grass, around the flowers and bushes and rake the pile of weeds from my garden. After a good rake, everything looks clean. In memory of my niece I plant daises, which was her favorite flower. I love daisies.

  17. Sindy Says:

Oh dear, my favorite tool is a toss up between hand pruners and a sturdy hand cultivator. Whenever I go out into the garden those are the two I use most often.

My favorite yard plant would probably be a tomato. I know, it’s usually a garden plant and not a yard plant, but I love edible landscaping, and either treated like a bush or trailing up a lattice it seems to fit right in.
