Life-changing time skills are worth their weight in gold…literally. My business clients learn quickly that my formula for superior time skills equals an increase in time AND money. My residential clients recognize that better time skills equal more time for the things they value most. Four points from my formula to find time were recently discussed in my KSL TV appearance How to Pad your time for Murphy’s Law.

Here are the 4 time skills that I shared on TV:

— — — — — — — — — — — — —

Plan ahead to prioritize your day with a 5 minute investment the day before.

Simplify time skills by shortening your morning routine and using the power of the little bit.

Delegate tasks that someone else can do nearly as well as you once they are trained.

Estimate time accurately by rewinding your journey.

Listed here are four additional time management essemtials. Specific details of these essentials are included in my FINDING TIME mastery set.

Time Skills #1    Set false deadlines: If you have a big project, set target completion dates for each stage of your project a few days ahead of the actual deadline. This way you are ahead of the ball.

Time Skills #2   Eliminate time vacuums: These are things that suck up our valuable time and return little value. They include TV, phone chats, and email interruptions during your busiest times of the day. Another time vacuum is perfectionism. In my first organizing training course I learned this notable phrase, “If something is barely worth doing, just barely do it.” Based on the 80/20 rule so often used in organizing circles, only about 20% of what we do is worth major investments of our time and energy.

Time Skills #3   Design a morning routine and stick with it: I define routine as standardized actions or procedures that are followed regularly, often in repetition. My formula to find time suggests you make your morning routine as simple as possible, then make it repetitive. By doing so you will be able to act without thinking.

Time Skills #4   Avoid Procrastination: My definition of procrastination is doing something of lesser importance while things of greater importance are put on hold. Don’t procrastinate the tasks that should be a priority.

We know issues will arise on a regular basis that you didn’t expect, however, if you use these 8 time skills techniques you will be able to rise above the unexpected.

Well, I will say that the simplifying and delegating are hard for me. Will the time set you are selling really help me with simplifying and delegating?

  2. Vicki Says:

Gilbert, I have been trained and have experience working with client after client on improving their time management skills. These forms are the very same I use with those clients. Take a look at the page through the link above. I feel you will be very pleased with my TIME mastery set.
